The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Project Manager in Traffic & Safety. An employee in this job oversees all traffic and safety engineering activities within the organization. The employee works within general methods and procedures, exercises considerable independent judgment to select the proper course of action, and reviews the work of subordinate level employees to ensure conformance with established guidelines, methods, procedures and policies. The work requires thorough knowledge of the policies, procedures and regulations of traffic engineering and project management as well as knowledge of supervisory techniques, personnel policies and procedures.

This is a professional level position. The employee may be assigned projects of a professional or technical nature. The position requires advanced knowledge in field and office work and is responsible for highly complex transportation-related assignments.

Requires possession of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in civil engineering. Must possess a valid driver’s license. A minimum of six (6) to eight (8) years of progressive responsibility with traffic engineering projects is required. In addition, supervisory experience is desirable. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must possess a Professional Engineer (PE) license within the State of Michigan or have the ability to obtain this license within one (1) year of employment. Desirable to have Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.

This position is non-union and has a salary range of $$59,030-$73,694 without PE; $65,499-$81,889 with PE.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic candidates. Applicants require a Group A CDL w/N (tanker) endorsement; a High School Diploma or equivalent; and Michigan motor vehicle mechanic certificates in Heavy Duty Truck Engine Repair - Diesel & Heavy Duty Truck Brakes and Braking Systems.

Student Positions


Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking a part-time intern position for the Information Technology Department. This position will focus on providing low-level desktop hardware and software support, as well as maintenance and upgrades to desktops.  The student may also perform technical duties including nominal network administration.  Additional responsibilities will include website and database maintenance, as well as procedural and clerical duties specific to the I.T. Department.  

This individual should be well versed in Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office.  Applicant must have some college pursuant to Computer Information, Microsoft Certification, or applied work experience.  Some database and/or network experience / knowledge would be beneficial.
