 Customer Relations Representative II

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Customer Relations Representative II.  This position serves as the first point of contact in public service for telephone calls and visitors to the Road Commission.  This position provides service to the general public and clerical support to the Road Commission including, but not limited to: receiving incoming calls, providing requested information, taking messages and processing service requests.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of two (2) years’ experience performing administrative support and customer service; where use of a multi-line phone system, standard office equipment, and personal computer is an essential part of the work.

Surveyor

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Surveyor, level I or II based upon the successful candidate’s experience.  This position performs a variety of technical and professional level surveying activities that provide assistance in the surveying of roads and bridges, and assist in determining land boundaries and rights-of-way under the supervision of a professional land surveyor.

Requirements include possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying or related field from an accredited college or university.  The ideal candidate must also have one to two years’ experience as a crew chief or crew member on projects demonstrating experience in boundary, control, and construction projects at a level commensurate with the type of work that will be expected in this position.

 GIS Developer

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified candidates for the position of GIS Developer, level I or II based upon the successful candidate’s experience.  This position oversees the administration and maintenance of the WCRC’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and acts as a functional supervisor for GIS- related activities carried out by staff.  Employees serve as a technical adviser regarding the acquisition, use and analysis of geo-located Road Commission assets including participation in GPS data collection and interpretation.  The position requires an understanding of not only GIS, but also must be an effective communicator, team builder and program manager.  The position also provides technical support in computer applications with other functions within the organization.

Requirements include possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Planning, Public Administration, Geography, or Computer Science, or related field from an accredited college or university with a concentration of GIS course work as applied to transportation networks and/or GISP Certification.  A Masters’ degree in GIS is highly desired.

The ideal candidate must also have 3 years of experience in the use of ESRI ArcGIS suite or other comprehensive asset management GIS software as well as MS Access, SQL server and experience with the server storage and access of spatial (SDE) or other server platforms with spatial storage and analysis capability.

Heavy Truck Driver

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Heavy Truck Driver.  This position performs a variety of infrastructure maintenance activities including, but not limited to pothole repairs, culvert repair and installation, tree trimming, brush control, hauling material to various operations and winter maintenance activities.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; possession of a valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an “N” (tank) endorsement; ability to lift 100 lbs.; and one (1) year of experience as a heavy truck driver.

Mechanic

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Mechanic.  This position performs a full range of maintenance, repair, and service activities on all Road Commission fleet and equipment.  Rebuilds and replaces mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems as needed; performs regular preventative maintenance activities to keep all vehicles and equipment in service. 

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED; possession of a valid Michigan Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with an “N” (tank) endorsement; and Michigan Certifications in Diesel Engine Repair and Brakes & Braking Systems (Heavy Duty Truck).
