CIVIL ENGINEER I 

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking candidates for the position of Civil Engineer I in Construction.  An employee in this job serves as an engineer able to design and oversee the construction of safe and efficient road, bridge and drainage projects. Perform a wide variety of fundamental and supportive professional engineering tasks. Perform related duties as required. 

This is the entry level.  As a trainee, the employee carries out a range of professional transportation engineering assignments while learning the methods of the work and WCRC Procedures & Regulations.  Requires possession of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in land surveying, civil engineering or related degree.  Must possess a valid driver’s license. Desirable to have successfully passed the FE exam.

HEAVY TRUCK DRIVER 

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Heavy Truck Driver. Requirements: Applicants require a high school diploma or GED; a Group A CDL with an N endorsement; one (1) year experience as a heavy truck driver; and the ability to lift 100 lbs. This position is a general labor position. Only candidates that meet the minimum qualifications will be considered. Accepting applications until position is filled.

MECHANIC

The Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Heavy Truck Mechanic. Requirements: Applicants require a  high school diploma or GED; a Group A CDL w/an N endorsement; Michigan Certifications in Diesel Engine Repair and Brakes & Braking Systems (Heavy Duty Truck). Only candidates that meet the minimum qualifications should apply.

Student Positions

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY INTERN POSITION

Washtenaw County Road Commission is seeking a part-time intern position for the Information Technology Department. This position will focus on providing low-level desktop hardware and software support, as well as maintenance and upgrades to desktops.  The student may also perform technical duties including nominal network administration.  Additional responsibilities will include website and database maintenance, as well as procedural and clerical duties specific to the I.T. Department.  

This individual should be well versed in Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office.  Applicant must have some college pursuant to Computer Information, Microsoft Certification, or applied work experience.  Some database and/or network experience / knowledge would be beneficial.
