September 1, 2020 Lane Restrictions: Stony Creek Road and Milan Oakville Road (York and August Twps)

WHEN: Starting Wednesday, September 2, 2020

WHERE: Stony Creek Road between Saline-Milan Road and Willis Road AND Milan Oakville Road between Milan City Limits and ½ mile west of Hitchingham Road in York and Augusta Townships.

WHY: Preventative maintenance – fog seal

BACKGROUND:    Starting Wednesday, September 2, 2020, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will apply a fog seal on Stony Creek Road between Saline-Milan Road and Willis Road AND Milan Oakville Road between Milan City Limits and ½ mile west of Hitchingham Road in York and Augusta Townships.

Fog seal is another thin layer of liquid asphalt placed on top of a recent chip seal that helps to seal in the chips and further protect the pavement.

This work will be conducted under lane restrictions and all vehicles must stay off the fog seal while it cures. Curing time depends on several factors including weather.

This work is expected to be completed by Thursday, September 3. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Once the fog seal has been completed, WCRC’s contractor will return to place permanent pavement markings in the coming weeks.

July 29, 2020 Lane Restrictions: Stony Creek Road (York and Augusta Twps)

WHEN: Thursday, July 30, 2020

WHERE: Stony Creek Road between Saline-Milan Road and Willis Road in York and Augusta Townships

WHY: Preventative maintenance – chip seal

BACKGROUND: On Thursday, July 30, 2020, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will chip seal Stony Creek Road between Saline-Milan Road and Willis Road in York and Augusta Townships.

The road will not be closed to traffic, but delays are likely due to lane restrictions. WCRC encourages motorists, emergency services and others to use an alternate route.

The road improvements are expected to take one day. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Once the road is back open, drivers are advised to lower their speeds to 35 mph while the stone settles. WCRC will return to this area in a few weeks to apply a fog seal on top of the chip seal and place permanent pavement markings.
