September 3, 2020 Lane Restrictions: Rawsonville Road (Augusta Twp)

WHEN: Starting Thursday, September 3, 2020

WHERE: Rawsonville Road between Oakville Walz Road and Judd Road in Augusta Township

WHY: Preventative maintenance – fog seal

BACKGROUND:    Starting in the afternoon of Thursday, September 3, 2020, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will apply a fog seal on Rawsonville Road between Oakville Walz Road and Judd Road in Augusta Township.

Fog seal is another thin layer of liquid asphalt placed on top of a recent chip seal that helps to seal in the chips and further protect the pavement.

This work will be conducted under lane restrictions and all vehicles must stay off the fog seal while it cures. Curing time depends on several factors including weather.

This work is expected to be completed on Tuesday, September 8. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Once the fog seal has been completed, WCRC’s contractor will return to place permanent pavement markings in the coming weeks.

August 4, 2020 Lane Restrictions: Milan-Oakville Road and Rawsonville Road (Augusta Twp)

WHEN: Starting Wednesday, August 5, 2020

WHERE: Milan-Oakville Road between Milan City Limits and .5 mile east of Gooding Road AND Rawsonville Road between Oakville Waltz Road and Judd Road in Augusta Township

WHY: Preventative maintenance – chip seal

BACKGROUND: On Wednesday, August 5, 2020, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will begin a chip seal project on Milan-Oakville Road between Milan City Limits and .5 mile east of Gooding Road AND Rawsonville Road between Oakville Waltz Road and Judd Road in Augusta Township.

The roads will not be closed to traffic, but delays are likely due to lane restrictions. WCRC encourages motorists, emergency services and others to use an alternate route.

The road improvements are expected to take two days. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Once the roads are back open, drivers are advised to lower their speeds to 35 mph while the stone settles. WCRC will return to this area in a few weeks to apply a fog seal on top of the chip seal and place permanent pavement markings.
