WHEN: Starting Monday, September 14, 2020

WHERE: The following roads in Ann Arbor, Northfield and Salem Townships:

  • Pontiac Trail between M-14 and N. Territorial Road
  • Earhart Road between US-23 and Plymouth Road

WHY: Preventative maintenance – fog seal

BACKGROUND: Starting Monday, September 14, 2020, WCRC will apply a fog seal on the following roads in Ann Arbor, Northfield and Salem Townships:

  • Pontiac Trail between M-14 and N. Territorial Road
  • Earhart Road between US-23 and Plymouth Road

Fog seal is another thin layer of liquid asphalt placed on top of a recent chip seal that helps to seal in the chips and further protect the pavement.

This work will be conducted with a combination of daytime road closures and lane restrictions to allow the fog seal to cure. WCRC will also finish its fog seal work on Sutton Road between Pontiac Trail and N. Territorial Road.

This work is expected to be completed by Tuesday, September 15. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

August 13, 2020 Daytime Road Closures: Pontiac Trail, 6 Mile Road, Sutton Road (Ann Arbor, Northfield, Salem Twps)

WHEN: Monday, August 17, 2020

WHERE:

  • Pontiac Trail between US-23 and N. Territorial Road
  • 6 Mile Road between between Pontiac Trail and Chubb Road
  • Sutton Road between Pontiac Trail and N. Territorial Road

WHY: Preventative maintenance – chip seal

BACKGROUND:  On Monday August 17, 2020, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will begin a chip seal project on the following roads in Ann Arbor, Northfield and Salem Townships:

  • Pontiac Trail between US-23 and N. Territorial Road
  • 6 Mile Road between between Pontiac Trail and Chubb Road
  • Sutton Road between Pontiac Trail and N. Territorial Road

This work will be conducted under temporary road closures. Traffic will be detoured at various sections. WCRC encourages motorists, emergency services and others to use an alternate route.

The road improvements are expected to be completed by Tuesday, August 18. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

Once the roads are back open, drivers are advised to lower their speeds to 35 mph while the stone settles. WCRC will return to this area in a few weeks to apply a fog seal on top of the chip seal and place permanent pavement markings.

April 20, 2020 Lane Restrictions: Pontiac Trail (Northfield Twp)

WHERE: Pontiac Trail between Sutton Road and Earhart Road in Northfield Township

WHY: Shoulder work

BACKGROUND: On Tuesday, April 21, 2020, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will conduct shoulder work on Pontiac Trail between Sutton Road and Earhart Road in Northfield Township.

This work is in preparation for a chip seal project which will take place on Pontiac Trail later this year.

The road will not be closed to traffic, but delays are likely due to lane restrictions. WCRC encourages motorists, emergency services and others to use an alternate route.

The shoulder work is expected to take approximately one day. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.
