Latest Updates

August 4, 2022 Platt Rd: Flash Dance

The flashing beacon is the only portion of the Platt Rd Resurfacing Project in York Township that still needs to be completed.

DTE installed the utility poles that will be used for the flashing beacon earlier this week. Now that the utility poles are ready to go, our signals team is beginning to install the flashing beacon. We are hoping to have the flashing beacon operational by the end of next week. We appreciate your continued patience during the final stretch of this project.

June 8, 2022 Platt Rd: Flashing Beacon Coming!

The Platt Rd Resurfacing Project in York Township is substantially complete. Over the last couple of weeks our contractors placed the new gravel shoulders and painted pavement markings.

The only thing left to do is install the flashing beacon “blinker” at the intersection of Platt Rd and Willow Rd. DTE will be installing the utility poles that will be used for the flashing beacon later this construction season. Once the utility poles are ready to go, our signals team will be onsite to begin installation of the flashing beacon. We will provide another update once we have a better idea of the time frame for this work. We appreciate your continued patience during the final stretch of this project.

May 23, 2022 Platt Rd: But Wait, There’s More!

Last week was a big week at the Platt Rd Resurfacing Project in York Township, we are so excited to have reopened the road to traffic.

However, the work out there is not done (yet).  Our contractors are expecting to place the new pavement markings and gravel shoulders this week. The remaining work will be completed under lane restrictions.

The flashing beacon “blinker” at the intersection of Platt Rd and Willow Rd will be installed later this construction season.

WHEN: Effective Thursday, May 19, 2022

WHERE: Platt Rd between the City of Milan and Willow Rd in York Township

BACKGROUND: On Thursday, May 19, 2022, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) re-opened Platt Rd between the City of Milan and Willow Rd in York Township.

May 17, 2022 Platt Rd: Almost There!

Work is really progressing at the Platt Rd Resurfacing Project in York Township!

This week our contractor has nearly finished paving and we are getting closer to completing the project. We still have to finish paving the intersections, apply the pavement markings and place the shoulders. As a reminder, the road remains closed to all through-traffic during construction and a detour route is posted. Access will be provided to residents who live, work or own property within the work zone.

May 12, 2022 Platt Rd: Smooth Road Ahead!

We are making great progress on the Platt Rd Resurfacing Project in York Township! Our contractor began pulverizing the existing pavement today and shaping it to create the new road base. This work will continue throughout the weekend.

Early next week paving will begin on Platt Rd. Paving is expected to take approximately three days, weather pending. As a reminder, the road remains closed to all through-traffic during construction and a detour route is posted. Access will be provided to residents who live, work or own property within the work zone. During paving, there may be a slight delay in access for residents as the paving operation moves directly in front of a driveway, so be sure to communicate with crews if needed.

May 4, 2022 Platt Rd: Rain, Rain, Drain Away

We are making good progress on the Platt Rd Resurfacing Project in York Township. Crews were able to complete the berming portion of the drainage improvements this week, which will help water drain off of the road. The rain earlier this week put a slight damper on some of the forestry work that has been ongoing, but our crews are on track to complete the forestry work this week, weather pending.

Due to equipment and crew availability, there will be a slight pause in the action before our contractor begins pulverizing the existing pavement later next week. The crushed material will be recycled and compacted to create the new road base. Just a reminder the road remains closed to all through-traffic and a detour route is posted.

April 26, 2022 Platt Rd: Drainage Underway!

We are making progress on the Platt Rd Resurfacing Project in York Township. The road has been officially closed for a little over a week now and work has been ongoing since then.

Our crews are close to completing both the forestry work and the culvert replacements at the intersection of Platt Rd and Willow Rd. Another crew is beginning the roadside drainage improvements ahead of the resurfacing. This work will continue into next week.

Our contractor is hoping to begin pulverizing the road in early May but the exact date depends on equipment availability and weather.
