WCRC staff produced the 2024 Augusta Township Local Road Funding Packet which includes information about the Local Road Matching Program, road funding, asset management and road treatments. Below is a summary of the roads, bridges and culverts located in Augusta Township.

Primary Roads  

  • 28.98 miles of paved primary roads  
  • 2.49 miles unpaved primary roads 
  • 6 bridges (more than 20’ span) 
  • 20 culverts, greater than 5’ in diameter 

Local Roads  

  • 9.24 miles of local paved roads 
  • 48.33 miles of local unpaved roads 
  • 13 bridges (more than 20’ span) 
  • 22 culverts on local collector roads, greater than 5’ in diameter

WHERE: McCrone Rd between Willow Rd and Talladay Rd in Augusta Township

WHY: Completion of a culvert replacement

BACKGROUND: On Friday, February 23, 2024, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) re-opened McCrone Rd between Willow Rd and Talladay Rd in Augusta Township.

February 23, 2024 Project Update #2: Whittaker Rd at Willis Rd Roundabout (Augusta Twp)

During the 2024 construction season, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) plans to construct a roundabout at the intersection of Whittaker Rd and Willis Rd in Augusta Township. The intersection will be closed to all traffic during construction and a detour will be posted.

February 22, 2024 Road Closure: McCrone Rd (Augusta Twp)

WHERE: McCrone Rd between Willow Rd and Talladay Rd in Augusta Township

WHY: Culvert replacement

BACKGROUND: On Friday, February 23, 2024, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will close McCrone Rd between Willow Rd and Talladay Rd in Augusta Township to replace a crossroad culvert.

The road improvements are expected to take approximately one day. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions.

February 8, 2024 Virtual Public Meeting: Bemis Rd Paving (Augusta & Ypsilanti Twps)

PROJECT: Bemis Rd Paving

WHY: The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) will hold a virtual project information meeting regarding the planned paving project for Bemis Rd in Augusta & Ypsilanti Townships.

During construction, Bemis Rd between Stony Creek Rd and Hitchingham Rd will be closed to ALL traffic and a detour will be posted. The closure is expected to be in place for approximately 12 weeks, weather pending.

The virtual public meeting will be held via Zoom on Friday, March 8, 2024, at 11 a.m. There will be a brief presentation followed by time for questions from the audience. A recording of the meeting will be posted to the project web page after the meeting.
