Here at the Washtenaw County Road Commission, we strive to provide the most comprehensive benefit package possible to our employees, retirees and their families. After extensive market research, we will be switching our dental insurance provider to Delta Dental in 2021.

There are many benefits of switching to Delta Dental, including:

  • Our annual maximum benefit will go further – Delta Dental has an extensive network of dentists who have agreed to accept lower fees as full payment for covered services.
  • Orthodontist lifetime maximum per person will reset for dependents under the age of 19.
  • Delta Dental will match the coverage of our previous current plans. If it was covered under Varipro, it will be covered under Delta Dental.
  • Improved billing services for dental offices and WCRC.
  • Better access to your account through the Delta Dental’s Consumer Toolkit web portal and mobile app.

FAQ’s

How can I find a Delta Dental network dentist in my area?

Check out our Find a Dentist tool to search for dentists in your area. You’ll need to know which network(s) your plan includes. You can find out which plan you have by signing in or registering for an account.

You can also search by dentist or practice name, specialty, languages spoken, gender, office hours and which dentists are accepting new patients.

Is my dentist in Delta Dental’s networks?

Three out of every four dentists participate in Delta Dental’s networks, so it’s likely that your dentist is in one of ours.

Use our Find a Dentist tool to help you find out if your dentist is part of our networks. You’ll also want to check your insurance to see which networks you have access to. In most cases, you can continue to visit your dentist even if he or she isn’t in our network, but you’ll save more money if you choose an in-network dentist. If you don’t know which networks you have access to, you can find out by signing in or registering for an account.

What are the benefits of visiting a Delta Dental network dentist?

When you visit a network dentist, you’ll enjoy the following benefits:

  • Lower out-of-pocket costs than if you received care from an out-of-network dentist because our network dentists have agreed to accept reduced fees.
  • Balance billing is not allowed. Our network dentists agree to accept Delta Dental’s fee and the patient co-payment or deductible (if applicable) as full payment.*
  • There are no forms for you to fill out because our network dentists submit claims directly to Delta Dental.
  • We pay the dentist directly, so you don’t have to wait for a reimbursement check.
  • You can have confidence in our ongoing relationships with our network dentists, who we’ve ensured meet national credentialing standards.

*If you have reached the annual dollar maximum or a frequency limitation for a given procedure covered by your policy, then you will be responsible for the charges.

Can I visit an out-of-network dentist?

It depends on your plan. Most of our plans allow you to visit any dentist you choose, while some require you to visit a network dentist in order to receive benefits. It’s important to remember that even for plans that do allow members to visit out-of-network dentists, out-of-pocket costs may be higher. Members receive the greatest value when they visit an in-network dentist.
