Week 2 Update: Scio Church/Wagner

The existing pavement was pulverized last Tuesday (6/20). This pulverized material will be reused to create a new roadbed. This practice allows us to stretch our limited federal aid resources further since trucking and disposal costs are reduced. Pulverizing the asphalt also reduces the amount of new stone needed to build the entire roadbed for the roundabout.

AT&T worked over the weekend to address some utility conflicts so it will not impose a delay to the Contractor.  The Contractor began placing storm pipe on Scio Church Road west of Wagner Road. The game plan for the remainder of week two will be placing storm pipe, hauling in stone material where needed for additional base material, then shape, grade and compact the roadbed in preparation for concrete work.

As a reminder, please remember the job site (intersection) is closed through the end of the project for your safety. This includes after-hours when the contractor goes home for the day. The Washtenaw County Sherriff’s Office is periodically monitoring the intersection both during and after construction hours. Drivers who violate road closed signs and travel through the work zone may have an encounter an officer.

Remember, road closed means road closed. Disrespect road closed, and fines will be imposed. If you have questions, you may write to [email protected] or call 734-845-2924. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to improve the Scio Church at Wagner intersection.
