Latest Updates

September 4, 2018 Work Stoppage Impacts Textile Road Project

As of 7 a.m. this morning, many projects on county roads in Washtenaw County, including most of the work on Textile Road in Pittsfield Township, are on hold due to a labor dispute between the Michigan Infrastructure Transportation Association (MITA) and the Operating Engineer’s Local 324. The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is not a party to these negotiations.

This work stoppage halts all paving, and some earthwork and underground work done by contractors on county roads. Some bridge work may also be impacted, depending on the contractor.

The railroad work on Textile Road west of Marton Road will continue as planned.

Please contact Mark McCulloch, project manager, if you have any questions – mccullochm@wcroads.org or (734) 327-6679.

Click read the work stoppage press release issued by WCRC.

September 4, 2018 Railroad Closure

As of this morning, the railroad crossing on Textile Road west of Marton Road is closed to all traffic. The railroad contractor is rebuilding the approaches to the tracks in preparation for the grand opening of Textile Road later this year. If you live or work on Textile Road, you will still be able to access your home or workplace, but you may need to use State Road, Marton Road, or anther side road since no traffic will be able to traverse the railroad tracks through Saturday, September 8 (weather permitting).

As always, please contact Mark McCulloch, project manager if you have any questions – mccullochm@wcroads.org or (734) 327-6679.

August 28, 2018 Road Closure to Local Traffic

We will be temporarily closing Textile Road to all traffic from approximately 500 feet east of Marton Road to Campbell Road while our contractor works on shaping the roadway. If you live or work on Textile Road, you will still be able to access your home or workplace but you will need to use side roads since no traffic will be able to traverse this section of road.

We expect this restriction to be in place for 2 – 3 weeks, depending on the weather.

Thanks for your patience!

As always, please contact Mark McCulloch, project manager if you have any questions – mccullochm@wcroads.org or (734) 327-6679.

June 27, 2018 Textile Road Local Traffic Update

Good news! We made the necessary repair between Hines Drive and the Ann Arbor Railroad earlier this afternoon. That section of Textile Road is back open to local traffic (those who live or work within the construction zone). Textile Road from Hines Drive to Michigan Avenue remains closed to all through-traffic.

During the next couple of weeks, as we progress down the road with the storm sewer, we will have more temporary local traffic closures like this one. We will send an email update ahead of these closures whenever possible.

Tomorrow, June 28, 2018, is the next local traffic closure. We will be temporarily closing Textile Road to local traffic between Marton Road and Campbell Road while we work. If you live or work within this area, you will still be able to access or your home or workplace but you will need to use side roads since no traffic can traverse the closure.

Thanks for your patience!

As always, please contact Mark McCulloch, project manager if you have any questions – mccullochm@wcroads.org or (734) 327-6679.

June 26, 2018 Textile Road – Temporary closure to all traffic

We’re one week into our full closure of Textile Road and the project is progressing pretty well, utilities are working on relocating their facilities and our road contractor is working on the storm sewer.

Unfortunately, we have run into an unexpected drainage issue between Hines Drive and the Ann Arbor Railroad that we need to fix. This means that Textile Road will be closed to all traffic, including local traffic, tomorrow, Wednesday, June 27, between Hines Drive and the Ann Arbor Railroad. If you live or work between Hines Drive and the railroad crossing, you will still be able to access or your home or workplace but you will need to use side roads since no traffic can traverse this closure.

We hope to fix this issue sometime tomorrow and reopen this section to local traffic only, as long as the weather cooperates. If it rains tomorrow, we may not be able to make all the repairs until Thursday. We will send you another email update if we have to extend the closure.

As always, please contact Mark McCulloch, project manager if you have any questions – mccullochm@wcroads.org or (734) 327-6679.

June 11, 2018 Textile Road Full Closure to Begin June 18

When the full closure begins, Textile Road from Hines Drive to Michigan Avenue will only be open to property owners and tenants. People who do not live or own property internal to the project limits will be required to follow posted detour routes or seek an alternate route while work is occurring.

The goal is to have Textile Road reopened to traffic by mid-November.
