Roy Townsend, Managing Director to Retire

By May 9, 2018Articles
It is with both sadness and delight that the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) announces the retirement of Roy Townsend from his role as managing director. Roy has served as managing director since 2011. During his tenure he has overseen countless road improvement projects across the county, led the agency through the difficult budget times and spearheaded the successful passage of the Four-Year Road and Non-Motorized Path Millage in 2016.

Roy began working at WCRC in 1987 and has served in various positions within the organization’s engineering department, ultimately serving as the county highway engineer, until being appointed managing director in 2011.  His kindness and professionalism will truly be missed by all who have worked with him.

Roy’s last day with the road commission will be in mid-to-late June. The Board of Road Commissioners is working now to fill this important position.
