Background

On July 3, 2007, the Washtenaw County Road Commission CLOSED the old Seven Mile Road Short-Span Bridge upon the completion of a routine bridge inspection, which takes place every two years. Based on a 1999 traffic count, approximately 4,000 vehicles cross over the Seven Mile Road Bridge daily.  The closure was imposed due to the severe deterioration and failure of several beams and both abutments.  (Read more about this bridge closure)
