By September 5, 2018Road Advisories

WHEN: Starting Wednesday, September 12, 2018

WHERE: The intersection of Moon Road and Bemis Road in Pittsfield and York Townships

WHY: Roundabout construction

BACKGROUND: On Wednesday, September 12, 2018, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) and its contractor will close the intersection of Moon Road and Bemis Road to construct a roundabout.

While the roundabout is being built, the following work will also take place:

  • Resurfacing of Moon Road from Willis Road to Bemis Road
  • A permanent culvert will be installed on Bemis Road between Fosdick Road and Warner Road, replacing the temporary culvert that was placed this past winter at this location. A separate road closure advisory will be issued for the culvert replacement.

While the work is ongoing, traffic will be permitted to drive on Moon Road North of Willis Road. However, traffic will not be able to drive through the Moon Road and Bemis Road intersection.

The road improvements are expected to be completed by late October. However, all dates are tentative and subject to change due to weather conditions and other circumstances.

DETOUR: The posted detour for Moon Road will be Willis Road to Platt Road to Michigan Avenue (U.S. 12). The posted detour route for Bemis Road will be Platt Road to Michigan Avenue (U.S. 12) to South Industrial Road.
