Paving of Zeeb Road Has Been Delayed

By September 5, 2018Articles, Project Updates

Due to higher-than-expected bids, the paving of Zeeb Road in Lodi Township has been delayed until the 2019 construction season.

Last month, the Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) received three bids from pre-qualified contractors for the paving of Zeeb Road in Lodi Township. The low bid received was $1,728,000, approximately 18% higher than had been expected.

Due to these higher-than-expected bids, the Board of Road Commissioners has decided to reject all bids. The project will be re-bid in the coming months, with the requirement that it be completed during the 2019 construction season. The board believes this delayed start time will allow contractors more flexibility and should result in more favorable bid prices.

The planned improvements remain the same:

  • Phase 1: Zeeb Road will be paved between Ellsworth Road and Waters Road. Tentatively, this phase will begin in the Spring of 2019 and be completed by the Fall of 2019.
  • Phase 2: Zeeb Road will be paved between Pleasant Lake Road and Ellsworth Road. This phase is scheduled to be constructed in 2020.
