Background
Beginning Tuesday, May 27, 2008, the Washtenaw County Road Commission will close Staebler Road between Jackson Road and Willow Tree Drive (Scio Farms) in Scio Township for installation of a box culvert, watermain installation and the realignment and reconstruction of the roadway.
Staebler Road traffic between Jackson Road and Willow Tree Drive (Scio Farms) will be detoured for the duration of this work. The posted DETOUR will include Jackson Road, Zeeb Road and Park Road.
Access for residents and businesses within the closure will be maintained. Residents and businesses will be contacted regarding activities that may temporarily limit driveway access.
The Jackson Road project is a two-year construction project. It is anticipated that this project will be completed and the boulevard will be opened to traffic by the end of 2009. Additional traffic advisories will be issued as construction progresses through the various stages of this project.
To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. The posted speed limit within the project limits will be reduced to 40 mph. In addition, the assistance of the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department has been requested to assure the safety of the road crews and motorists through increased enforcement activity during construction. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
