Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) Managing Director Roy Townsend has
named Sheryl Soderholm Siddall as the Road
Commission’s new Director of Engineering
effective December 28th, of 2011. Townsend, who took over as
Managing Director, held the Engineering Director’s position
previously.
“I am very pleased to announce Sheryl’s promotion to Director of Engineering,” Townsend said. “Sheryl is well known and highly respected in Washtenaw County and she brings the perfect tool set to this position. Together we are committed to continuing to provide the highest level of service possible to our customers, the residents, businesses, and motorists of Washtenaw County.”
Sheryl received her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) from the University of Michigan in 1988 and continued her education with the U of M Law School receiving her Juris Doctor in 1990. She passed her Bar Exam in February of 1991 and received her license to practice law shortly after in which she is still active and in good standing. Ms. Siddall attained her Professional Engineering license (P.E.) in 1998 and remains an active U of M alumnus.
Siddall has been with the Washtenaw County Road Commission for nearly 15 years. She began her career with the Road Commission as the Traffic and Safety Engineering Supervisor in 1997, and was promoted to Assistant Engineering Director in 2004, overseeing Project Development and Construction. As the Assistant Engineering Director, Sheryl has been responsible for many projects, including the Jackson Road Boulevard Phase III Construction, the Carpenter Road Reconstruction and Widening project, and the Whittaker Road at Stony Creek Roundabout Construction project.
Prior to her employment with the Road Commission Sheryl worked as a Transportation Engineer for SEMCOG (Southeast Michigan Council of Governments) from 1994 through 1997. She served for six years on the Executive Board of the Michigan Section of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.
When speaking with Sheryl she expressed that she plans to “continue providing excellent professional services with reduced staffing and funding, and feels blessed to have an exceptional staff to help meet those goals.”
