The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) has scheduled a Public Information Meeting to review the impending construction of a roundabout at the Whittaker Road and Stony Creek Road intersection.  This meeting will be held on Thursday, March 25, 2010 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Ypsilanti Township Civic Center, 7200 S. Huron River Drive, Ypsilanti, MI 48197.

The proposed intersection improvements consist of 0.49 miles of roundabout construction including hot mix asphalt pavement reconstruction, concrete curb and gutter, aggregate shoulders, drainage work, sign installation, pavement marking, and restoration.

The project will be constructed in two phases. Phase 1 of the project will be limited to Stony Creek Road and will require closure of Stony Creek Road between Textile Road and Whittaker Road.  A detour route will be posted.

Phase 2 of the project involves the work at the Whittaker Road / Stony Creek Road intersection and requires closure of the entire intersection.  Again, detour routes will be posted but access to local businesses will be maintained throughout construction.

Currently, work is scheduled to begin on April 12, 2010 and the entire project is expected to be completed on or before July 30, 2010.

The Public Information Meeting will include a brief presentation at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by an open house format, providing individual citizens with the opportunity to discuss the project with WCRC staff.
