Dexter-Pinckney Road Bridge Closure

Posted on February 24, 2010

The Washtenaw County Road Commission recently held a Public Information Meeting to provide the general public with an update for Dexter-Pinckney Road Bridge replacement project located over the Portage Lake Canal in Dexter Township.  The project is expected to start in March, 2010 and be completed in August, 2010.

Dexter-Pinckney Road Bridge Construction will include the removal and replacement of the existing Dexter-Pinckney Road Bridge.  The limits of the project extend approximately 100-feet north and south of the existing bridge.  The new bridge will be 73' long (span over the Canal) with a 35'-6" clear roadway and be capable of carrying full legal loads.

Dexter-Pinckney Road will be completely closed at the bridge during construction.  The signed detour route will follow McGregor Road and M-36.  Boating traffic in the canal will experience intermittent closures.  Local public agencies (emergency vehicles) have been advised of the impending closure.
