Why: Due to Beam Failure
Background
On Wednesday morning, May 26, 2010, the Washtenaw County Road Commission will CLOSE the Lima Center Road Bridge over the Mill Creek, CLOSE the Liberty Road Bridge over the Mill Creek, and CLOSE the Waldo Road Bridge over the Mill Creek. The Lima Center Road Bridge is located between Scio Church Road and Jerusalem Road in Sections 33 & 34 of Lima Township. The Liberty Road Bridge is located between Guenther Road and Dancer Road in Sections 27 & 34 of Lima Township. The Waldo Road Bridge is located between M-52 and Peckins Road in Section 1 of Sharon Township. All the bridges will be closed indefinitely until further notice. The deterioration and recommended closure of these structures were determined during routine, annual bridge inspections.
The posted DETOURS for the bridge closures are as follows:
- Lima Center Road - Scio Church Road to
Guenther Road to Jerusalem Road.
- Liberty Road - Guenther Road to Scio
Church Road to Steinbach Road.
- Waldo Road - M-52 to Scio Church Road to Peckins Road.
It is unknown at this time when these bridges will be replaced; however, the Road Commission will be assessing any and all funding options to replace these structures as soon as it is financially feasible.
