What: Intersection RE-OPENING
When: Friday, June 25, 2010
Where: Whittaker Road and Stony Creek Road Intersection in Ypsilanti Twp
Why: Roundabout Construction Project
Background
On Friday, June 25, 2010, the Washtenaw County Road Commission and C&D Hughes, Inc. will RE-OPEN the Whittaker Road and Stony Creek Road intersection located in Ypsilanti Township. The roundabout project has been a cooperative effort among the area businesses and residents, the Charter Township of Ypsilanti, the Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority, C&D Hughes, Inc. and the Road Commission. It was only by working together that this project was completed in an expedited manner, minimizing the inconvenience to everyone who uses the intersection. The Road Commission appreciates the efforts of all involved.
Since roundabouts are still a relatively new intersection improvement, some motorists are hesitant to drive through them. For a guide on how to safely navigate roundabouts, please see the Road Commission website. The website contains information on how to utilize a roundabout as a motorist, cyclist or pedestrian.
Finally, the Road Commission thanks you for your patience and cooperation as we complete this roundabout construction project. In order to finish the project in a timely manner and without damage to the completed work, please continue to use the posted detour until the intersection is completed and opened to the public.
