Willow Road Closure

Posted on July 22, 2010

What: Road Closure

When: Beginning Friday, July 23, 2010 through August 6, 2010

Where: Willow Road, between Whittaker Road and Hitchingham Road in Augusta Twp

Why: Replacement of the existing bridge due to failed condition with a new concrete box culvert

Background

Beginning on Friday, July 23, 2010, the Operations Department Heavy Equipment Crew from the Washtenaw County Road Commission will begin work to replace the Willow Road Culvert over Stony Creek, located between Whittaker Road and Hitchingham Road in Augusta Township.  The current short-span bridge will be replaced with a 16’ wide by 6’ high by 42’ long concrete box culvert.

A DETOUR route will be posted directing traffic onto Sanford Road, Milan-Oakville Road, and Whittaker Road.  Local traffic will be maintained within the detour with the exception of the construction area.

It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the end of the day on Friday, August 6, 2010, weather dependent, and that Willow Road will be re-opened to traffic immediately thereafter.

To maintain the safety of road crews, motorists are asked to be especially mindful of construction equipment and personnel and reduce speeds accordingly.  The Washtenaw County Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as we continue our efforts to improve the county road system.
