Milan-Oakville Road Closure

Posted on October 9, 2009

What: CONTINUED ROAD CLOSURE

When: Friday, October 09, 2009

Where: Milan-Oakville Road, approximately 1000-feet west of Gooding Road

Why: Roadway Construction

Background

Milan-Oakville Road, approximately 1000-feet west of the Gooding Road intersection, is currently CLOSED to all traffic. The road was closed on October 5, 2009 to facilitate the installation of a new concrete box culvert at the Falk Drain.  Work was expected to be completed and the road reopened by the end of the workday today, October 9, 2009. However, due to weather and unexpected field conditions, the road closure currently in place will remain in place.

The current closure is expected to remain in place for one additional week.  The closure will allow for the completion of the box culvert installation and expedite the ongoing preparations for asphalt paving.

No traffic will be allowed within the closed roadway section.  Residents to the west and east of the above noted closure are advised to seek an alternate route.  Motorists traveling to addresses beginning at 5680 Milan-Oakville Road and continuing west should approach the project via Sanford Road.  Motorists traveling to addresses beginning at 5870 Milan-Oakville Road and continuing east should approach the project via Whittaker Road.

Emergency services have been advised of this closure.

Construction activities on Milan-Oakville Road, extending from the Milan City limits to ½ mile east of Gooding Road, are ongoing.  Only those motorists traveling to addresses within the construction zone should be using Milan-Oakville Road. All other motorists are advised to follow the posted detour routes.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission appreciates the patience and cooperation shown by the residents, businesses and motorists in the area as we continue this road improvement project.
