What: Road Reopening

When: Monday, November 23, 2009

Where: Hitchingham Road between Textile Road and Stony Creek Road

Why: Road Improvements

Background

Hitchingham Road, located between Textile Road and Stony Creek Road, will be officially REOPENED to the traveling public on Monday, November 23, 2009 at approximately 4:00 p.m.

Construction activities including final roadside restoration and miscellaneous items remain to be completed.  These activities will continue into next week and will be completed under traffic.  Flagging operations will be in place as needed to maintain two-way traffic.  Motorists traveling on Hitchingham Road should use caution and be aware of the construction personnel and equipment working onsite.

Work completed over the past 5 weeks included the reconstruction, realignment, widening, and paving of Hitchingham Road, concrete curb and gutter construction, and drainage improvements including storm sewer construction and the installation and extension of several culverts.  All work is being completed by the Road Commission in partnership with Ypsilanti Township.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission very much appreciates the patience and cooperation of the local residents, Ypsilanti Township officials, businesses and motorists during these improvements.
