What: Lane Closures / Roadway, Water Main Construction
When: Tuesday, June 9, 2009
Where: Hewitt Road, between Packard Road and Clark Road / Huron River Drive
Why: Construction Start / Traffic Lane Restrictions
Background
Construction operations are scheduled to begin on
Hewitt Road on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.
The proposed construction will include both water
main and roadway improvements. The work being
undertaken will necessitate the
CLOSURE of the
TWO SOUTHBOUND LANES
on Hewitt Road between Washtenaw Avenue (M-17) and
Packard Road. Southbound traffic will be shifted
into the existing center-turn lane. The traffic
signals at the Washtenaw Avenue and Packard Road
intersections will be adjusted to accommodate this
traffic shift.
In addition to the above noted lane closures,
intermediate daytime lane closures on Hewitt Road,
north of Washtenaw Avenue, will be necessary to
accommodate road improvements such as curb and
gutter replacement.
The proposed improvements are expected to be
completed in late-July. Traffic delays during this
period are likely. The Hewitt Road project is being
coordinated with the ongoing Michigan Department of
Transportation road construction on Washtenaw
Avenue.
To maintain the safety of road crews, motorists are
asked to be especially mindful of the upcoming
construction activities, including personnel and
equipment, and reduce speeds accordingly. The
posted speed limit on Hewitt Road has been reduced
to 35 mph for the duration of construction. The
Washtenaw County Road Commission and Ypsilanti
Community Utilities Authority thank you in advance
for your patience as we undertake these
improvements.
