When: Monday, June 29, 2009

Where: Milan-Oakville Road, Milan City limits to Gooding Road

Why: Construction Start / ROAD CLOSURE

Background

The Washtenaw County Road Commission has scheduled the CLOSURE of Milan-Oakville Road, between the Milan City limits and Gooding Road, beginning on Monday, June 29, 2009. This closure will allow for the reconstruction and widening of Milan-Oakville Road. The closure is expected to last into late-October 2009.

During the closure period, two signed detour routes will be in place. The automobile detour route (cars, pickups, motorcycles, etc.) will follow Whittaker Road, Willow Road and Carpenter Road. The truck detour route will follow Wanty Road, Darling Road and Plank Road.

Access for local traffic, for those motorists traveling to residential and business addresses within the construction work zone, will be maintained. However, through traffic on Milan-Oakville Road will be prohibited.

The proposed roadway improvements vary in nature within the project limits. These improvements include segments of storm sewer construction, concrete curb and gutter, full-depth road reconstruction, roadway widening, hot mix asphalt paving and the replacement of a cross-road box culvert structure.

The Washtenaw County Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as we undertake these improvements.
