What: Asphalt milling, paving operations
When: Monday, July 27, 2009
Where: Hewitt Road, Packard Road to Clark Road / Huron River Drive
Why: Traffic Lane Restrictions / Traffic Delays
Background
The Washtenaw County Road Commission has scheduled asphalt milling and paving operations on Hewitt Road, between Packard Road and Clark Road/Huron River Drive, beginning on Monday, July 27, 2009. The existing asphalt pavement surface will be removed by cold milling, manhole structures in the milled area will be adjusted, and a new asphalt surface will be paved. These activities will continue throughout the week. The work is weather dependent.
Traffic LANE RESTRICTIONS will be necessary to complete this portion of the Hewitt Road project. Traffic delays are likely. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route, if possible. However, access for those residences and businesses within the construction zone will be maintained.
To maintain the safety of road crews, motorists
are asked to be especially mindful of the
construction activities, including personnel and
equipment, and reduce speeds accordingly. The
posted speed limit on Hewitt Road has been
reduced to 35 mph for the duration of
construction. During the placement of the hot
asphalt, pedestrians and bicyclists should keep
clear of the area; burns are possible from
contact with hot asphalt.
The Washtenaw County Road Commission and Ypsilanti Community Utilities Authority thank you in advance for your patience as we near the completion of this project.
