Staebler Road Closure (Jackson Road Project)

Posted on August 6, 2009

What: ROAD CLOSURE / RECONSTRUCTION

When: Beginning Thursday, August 6, 2009

Where: Staebler Road, between Jackson Road and Willow Tree Drive (Scio Farms) in Scio Township

Why: Road Closure / Detour Route

Background

Beginning Thursday, August 6, 2009, the Washtenaw County Road Commission will CLOSE Staebler Road between Jackson Road and Willow Tree Drive (Scio Farms) in Scio Township in preparation for the concrete paving of the eastbound portion of the Jackson Road boulevard.  It is expected that the paving operation will begin on or around August 11, 2009.  All activities are weather dependent.

Staebler Road traffic between Jackson Road and Willow Tree Drive (Scio Farms) will be detoured for the duration of this work.  The posted DETOUR will include Jackson Road, Zeeb Road and Park Road.  Access for residents and businesses within the closure will be maintained.

The Jackson Road project was a two-year construction project.  It is anticipated that this project will be completed and the boulevard will be opened to traffic by the end of 2009.  Additional traffic advisories will be issued as construction progresses through the various stages of this project.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones.  The posted speed limit within the project limits has been reduced to 35 mph.  In addition, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department has provided assistance to assure the safety of the road crews and motorists through increased enforcement activity during construction.  The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
