What: Jackson Road Concrete Paving
When: Beginning Wednesday, August 12, 2009
Where: Jackson Road between Lowe’s Home Improvement Store and Dino Drive in Scio Township, including the Jackson Road / Baker Road Intersection
Why: Concrete Boulevard Construction
Background
On Wednesday, August 12 and Thursday, August 13, 2009, the Washtenaw County Road Commission, Dan’s Excavating, Inc. and Ajax Paving Industries, Inc. will be placing concrete on the eastbound portion of the Jackson Road boulevard from the end of existing pavement near Lowe’s Home Improvement Store through Dino Drive west of Baker Road, in Scio Township. Jackson Road will remain open to traffic, however, intermittent LANE CLOSURES and long delays are expected. Access to all businesses will be maintained but some driveways will be temporarily relocated to facilitate the paving operation and short-term closures will be necessary. Therefore, motorists are encouraged to seek an alternate route when possible and remain patient during the expected delays.
Once the mainline paving is complete, any gapped areas will be placed as well as turn lanes, curb and gutter, driveways and sidewalk. The mainline paving operation is expected to take at least three days to complete with all overall concrete paving operations taking up to three weeks in length. However, please be advised that due to weather conditions, all dates are tentative and subject to change.
To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. The posted speed limit within the project limits has been reduced to 35 mph. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
