Posted on July 31, 2008

What: Bridge Replacement

When: Monday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 5, 2008

Where: Dexter Main St Bridge over Mill Creek, Scio Township, Village of Dexter

Why: Roadway approach work (storm sewer) / Main Street daytime closure

Background

The Washtenaw County Road Commission and E.T. MacKenzie have scheduled the daytime closure of Dexter Main Street on Monday, August 4, 2008 and Tuesday, August 5, 2008. The closure will be in effect between 9 AM and 3 PM both days. These daytime closures will facilitate the construction of storm sewer crossings to the east and west of the bridge.

The closure limits will extend from Jeffords Street to Dexter-Chelsea Road. Detour signs will be in place directing westbound traffic along the detour route; the detour route includes Broad Street, Third Street, Central Street, Mast Road, North Territorial Road and Dexter-Pinckney Road. The changeable message board in the Village will be providing advance warning to westbound motorists.

The Village of Dexter, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department and Dexter Area Fire Department have been advised of this situation. The westbound movement of emergency vehicles through the closure area will be maintained.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please continue to reduce speeds and drive cautiously through the work zone. The posted speed limit within the project limits remains 25 mph. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as we continue these improvements for the county road system and the Village of Dexter.
