What: Nighttime bridge deck pour / Main Street traffic delays
When: Wednesday, July 30, 2008
Where: Dexter Main St Bridge over Mill Creek, Scio Township, Village of Dexter
Why: Bridge Replacement
Background
The casting of the new concrete bridge deck on the Dexter Main Street Bridge has been scheduled for Wednesday, July 30, 2008. To protect the freshly placed deck concrete from exposure to high daytime temperatures, this work will be performed at night. The work is expected to begin shortly after sundown on Wednesday evening. The work will extend through the night, into the early morning hours on Thursday, July 31.
The nighttime casting of the deck will include the use of light towers to illuminate the project site. Concrete trucks will be delivering concrete throughout the pour. The contractor has been advised to be mindful of the noise levels associated with this work. However, the lights and noise associated with this operation cannot be completely avoided.
Westbound motorists crossing the bridge during the nighttime hours may experience intermittent traffic delays as concrete trucks enter and exit the site. Motorists should be particularly conscious of the workers, vehicles and equipment at the bridge site.
The Village of Dexter, Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department and Dexter Area Fire Department have been advised of this situation.
To maintain the safety of road crews, please continue to reduce speeds and drive cautiously through the work zone. The posted speed limit within the project limits remains 25 mph. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as we continue these improvements for the county road system and the Village of Dexter.
