When: Saturday, July 26, 2008 (weather permitting)

Where: Carpenter Road between Michigan Avenue (US-12) and Ellsworth Road

Why: Reconstruction and Widening Project

Background

The Washtenaw County Road Commission has scheduled pavement striping operations for Saturday, July 26, 2008 on Carpenter Road between Michigan Avenue (US-12) and Ellsworth Road in Pittsfield Township. The pavement striping operations are expected to be completed on Saturday. This work is weather dependent.

Intermittent traffic delays and lane shifts will be necessary to complete the pavement striping. Traffic delays on Saturday are expected. Therefore, motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

With the completion of pavement striping on Saturday, all traffic lanes on Carpenter Road between Michigan Avenue and Ellsworth Road will be reopened to traffic.

Various items of work remain to be completed as part of this project. This includes driveway paving, sign installation, diamond grinding and joint sealing of the concrete pavement segment of the project. Traffic will be maintained during these operations. However, short-duration daytime lane closures may be needed in some cases to complete this work. These remaining items of work are expected to be completed by mid-August.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
