Background
The Road Commission has announced that the first of two intersection improvement projects in Superior Township will begin on March 1, 2008. The first phase of the Geddes Road/LeForge Road project will begin with the replacement of a culvert spanning the Snidecor Drain. New water main will also be installed during this period. Consequently, LeForge Road, (between Geddes Road and Clark Road), will be CLOSED to through traffic effective Saturday, March 1st, weather dependent.
It is anticipated that this segment of LeForge Road will REMAIN CLOSED through June 2008. The DETOUR for this road closure will be Geddes Road east to Prospect Road, south to Clark Road, east to LeForge Road. The improvements to the Geddes Road/LeForge Road intersection are being completed in association with the Hyundai development. Upon completion, the current intersection configuration will be widened to accommodate center left-turn lanes for all approaches. A new traffic signal will also be installed.
Additionally, the Road Commission also advises motorists that beginning some time between April 1 and April 15, 2008, Geddes Road, between Superior Road and LeForge Road, will be closed to through traffic for 45 days to reconstruction the Geddes Road at Superior Road and Geddes Road at LeForge Roads intersections. Please check your local newspaper for continual updates, or the WCRC website at www.wcroads.org/roadwork/.
It is anticipated that both intersection improvement projects will be completed by June 2008. However, please be advised that due to weather conditions, all dates are tentative and subject to change.
To ensure the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the County road system are completed.
