Posted on August 10, 2008

What: Asphalt Paving of Temporary Road - traffic delays

When: Beginning Monday, August 11, 2008

Where: Jackson Road between Lowe’s Home Improvement Store and west of Dino Drive in Scio Township

Why: Reconstruction and Widening Project

Background

Beginning Monday, August 11, 2008, the Washtenaw County Road Commission and Dan’s Excavating, Inc. have scheduled asphalt paving of a temporary roadway along the south side of Jackson Road. When completed, this temporary roadway will serve as a bypass for motorists during the subsequent sanitary sewer installation and the reconstruction and widening of Jackson Road. Weather permitting, traffic will be switched onto the temporary roadway on Wednesday, August 20, 2008.

Two-way traffic on Jackson Road will be maintained during these operations by traffic regulators (flaggers). Intermittent traffic delays and lane shifts will be necessary to complete this work. Therefore, motorists should expect long delays. In addition, motorists are advised to refrain from using the temporary roadway until the paving and all related work is completed in order to expedite the work and maintain a safe environment for motorists and workers.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
