Background

On Wednesday, September 24, 2008 the Washtenaw County Road Commission closed Bemis Road between Hitchingham Road and Whittaker Road in Ypsilanti/Augusta Townships for road and drainage improvements.

On Friday afternoon, October 24, 2008 the Washtenaw County Road Commission re-opened this stretch of roadway to the traveling public following final asphalt paving and the placement of pavement markings. Final project restoration will continue and be completed by early November 2008. Traffic will be maintained by the Road Commission during this time with intermittent lane closures and flag control operations. To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones.

The Road Commission appreciates the cooperation and patience of the public during this important road improvement project.
