What: Truss Relocation
When: Friday, August 15, 2008
Where: East Delhi Road Bridge over Huron River, Scio Township
Why: Bridge Rehabilitation Project
Background
On Friday, August 15, 2008, the Washtenaw County Road Commission will move the existing truss bridge from the foundations in order to facilitate the repairs to the truss and the replacement of the foundations as part of the rehabilitation project for the East Delhi Road Bridge over Huron River in Scio Township. The truss will be picked up by two cranes, placed on a platform and pulled to the northeast corner of the bridge, where it will be rehabilitated. The reverse process will be used to return the truss to the bridge foundations in the fall.
This bridge has been closed since June 2005 due to structural failure and will remain closed throughout the bridge rehabilitation project, which is expected to be completed in November. Access for pedestrians across the Huron River at this location will not be permitted during construction. There will not be a signed detour route for this project. Access to the Delhi Metropark and for residents within the construction zone will be maintained.
For the safety of everyone at the construction site, pedestrians are asked to stay outside of the construction influence area, which is delineated by orange plastic fence. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
