What: Carpenter Road Reconstruction Project
When: Effective December 6, 2007
Where: Between Textile Road to the Sam's Club driveway, just north of Michigan Avenue (US-12) in Pittsfield Township
Why: Completion of the southern portion (from Textile Road to US-12) of the Carpenter Road improvements project
Background
The Washtenaw County Road Commission announced that reconstruction work on Carpenter Road, between Textile Road and the Sam’s Club driveway, just north of Michigan Avenue (US-12), in Pittsfield Township has been completed and all lanes on this segment of Carpenter Road will be REOPENED to traffic on Thursday, December 6, 2007. The current detour for southbound traffic on this segment of Carpenter Road will no longer be in effect.
In addition, the traffic lanes currently open on Carpenter Road north of the Sam’s Club driveway to the I-94 overpass will be switched. Effective December 6, 2007, reconstruction work will begin on the west side of Carpenter Road, and traffic will be switched to the EAST side of Carpenter Road. One lane of traffic will be maintained in both directions. However, intermittent delays may occur; therefore, motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.
This remaining work on the Carpenter Road improvements project is expected to continue throughout the winter months, weather dependent. It is anticipated that this project will be fully completed and all lanes reopened to traffic by the summer of 2008. However, please be advised that due to weather conditions, all dates are tentative and subject to change.
To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
