Background

Beginning on Monday, October 22, 2007, the Washtenaw County Road Commission will impose a ROAD CLOSURE on WILLIS ROAD, between Platt Road and Emerson Drive in York Township, for the installation of a box culvert to improve storm drainage. This work is part of the ongoing reconstruction and widening of Willis Road, Platt Road, Bemis Road and US-23 ramps.

Willis Road traffic will be detoured through October 24, 2007. There will be a POSTED DETOUR while this work is performed. Traffic on Willis Road will be restored to one lane in each direction following the completion of this work.

The entire road reconstruction and widening project is scheduled to be completed by August of 2008. Additional traffic advisories will be issued as construction progresses through the various stages of this project.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through the work zones. The posted speed limit within the project limits has been reduced to 35 mph. The Road Commission has notified the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department of this road work and related speed reduction. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
