Background

Beginning on Monday, October 8, 2007, the Operations Heavy Equipment Crew from the Washtenaw County Road Commission will begin work to replace the Case Road Culvert over the Saline/Bridgewater Drain, located between Michigan Avenue (US-12) and Willow Road in Saline Township. The current 72-inch diameter culvert will be replaced with an 84-inch diameter x 95-ft long corrugated steel pipe (csp) culvert.

It is anticipated that the work will be completed by the end of the day on Wednesday, October 10, weather dependent, and that Case Road will be REOPENED to traffic immediately thereafter.

On July 18, 2007, the Case Road Culvert was CLOSED by the Road Commission due to the failed condition of the large structure. Hired consultant, Scott Civil Engineering, conducted an inspection of this culvert and based on its severe deterioration, recommended to the Road Commission that it be closed immediately for the safety of the motoring public. This culvert was one of seven short-span bridges and culverts in Washtenaw County that the Road Commission was forced to close this past summer, following routine, biennial bridge inspections.

The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
