Posted on September 12, 2007

What: Road Reconstruction Project

When: Beginning Thursday, September 13, 2007 through November 2007

Where: Platt Road, between Willis Road and Bemis Road; and Willis Road, between Emerson Drive and US-23, in York Township

Why: Road Closure / Detour

Background

Beginning on Thursday, September 13, 2007, the Washtenaw County Road Commission will impose a ROAD CLOSURE on PLATT ROAD, between Willis Road and Bemis Road in York Township for the reconstruction of Platt Road, and the widening of Willis Road, between Emerson Drive and US-23.

Platt Road traffic will be DETOURED through November, 2007. The posted detour will remain in place throughout this stage of the project, which is scheduled for completion in November. Two-way traffic on Willis Road will be maintained. However, intermittent traffic delays are likely. Motorists are asked to remain patient during these delays.

Access for residents within the construction zone will be maintained. Residents will be contacted regarding activities that may temporarily limit driveway access, such as concrete curb and gutter construction or road excavation operations.

The entire project, which includes the reconstruction and widening of Willis Road, Platt Road, Bemis Road and the US-23 ramps is scheduled to be completed by August of 2008. Additional traffic advisories will be issued as construction progresses through the various project stages.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through the work zone. The posted speed limit within the project limits will be reduced to 35 mph. The Road Commission has notified the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department of this road work and related speed reduction.

The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the county road system are completed.
