What: Carpenter Road Reconstruction
When: Beginning Friday, August 24, 2007
Alternate Date: Monday, August 27, 2007
Where: Carpenter Road - North, (south of Michigan Avenue (US-12) in Pittsfield Township)
Why: REVISED - Concrete Paving Schedule / Flagging Operations / Traffic Delays
Background
Due to the poor weather conditions on August 22, 2007, the Washtenaw County Road Commission has RESCHEDULED the start of the concrete paving on Carpenter Road. The new paving date is Friday, August 24, 2007. The paving is expected to take two (2) days; if this schedule holds, the paving will take place on Friday and Monday, August 24 and 27, 2007.
Rain is again predicted for Friday, August 23, 2007. If the weather should again delay this work, the alternate date for the start of paving will be Monday, August 27, 2007.
Motorists will note paving both north and south of the Michigan Avenue (US-12) intersection. The paving activities will require intermittent daytime lane closures. Two-way traffic will be maintained under a flagging operation. Access for residents and businesses along Carpenter Road will be maintained. HOWEVER, MOTORISTS USING CARPENTER ROAD AS A THROUGH ROUTE SHOULD STRONGLY CONSIDER AN ALTERNATE ROUTE.
To maintain the safety of road crews, please continue to reduce speeds and drive cautiously through the work zone. The posted speed limit within the project limits has been reduced to 35 mph. We are continuing to coordinate our work with area law enforcement agencies to assure the safety of the road crews and motorists. The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as we continue our improvements on Carpenter Road.
