Background

The Washtenaw County Road Commission announced today that Stage 1 of the Maple Road roundabouts road improvement project in Ann Arbor/Scio Townships is nearing final completion. The completion of this phase of the project will allow for the REOPENING of the two Maple Road roundabouts, the M-14 ramps at Maple Road, effective 6:00 a.m., Wednesday morning, August 1, 2007, as well as Foss Street, which will also be reopened to the motoring public on this date.

The motoring public is advised to pay close attention to traffic control devices and yield to motorists within the roundabout approaching from the left. For navigation tips and more information on modern roundabouts, please visit the Washtenaw County Road Commission website at www.wcroads.org.

Stage 2 of this project will continue over the next month; therefore, Maple Road, from M-14 north to Craig Road, will remain CLOSED until further notice. Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route. Detour signs will be posted for this road closure. The DETOURS for Maple Road traffic, from M-14 north to Craig Road, will be various routes; via Miller Avenue, Wagner Road and Huron River Drive.

It is anticipated that Stage 2 will be completed and Maple Road will be reopened to the motoring public by late August 2007. However, please be advised that due to weather conditions, all dates are tentative and subject to change.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please reduce speeds and drive cautiously through work zones! The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as these necessary improvements to the road system are completed.
