Wagner Road Reconstruction

Posted on July 27, 2007

What: Wagner Road Reconstruction - UPDATE

When: Beginning Wednesday, August 1, 2007

Where: Wagner Road, between Liberty Road and Jackson Road in Scio Township

Why: Concrete paving, impending closures, traffic delays

Background

The Washtenaw County Road Commission has tentatively scheduled the start of concrete paving on the east half of Wagner Road for Wednesday, August 1, 2007. This roadway paving operation is expected to take two (2) days.

The DOLPH PARK DRIVEWAY WILL BE CLOSED AT WAGNER ROAD beginning on Wednesday, August 1, 2007 for one (1) week. The closure of the park drive is being implemented to assure the safety of park users and Wagner Road motorists during the paving. In addition, this will allow the paving operation to move smoothly through the park entrance, improving the ride quality of the new roadway. A changeable message sign has been placed in the park to advise park users of this impending drive closure.

Although the park driveway and parking lot at Wagner Road will be closed, trail access to Dolph Park is available via Park Lake Avenue, off of Jackson Road.

NORTHBOUND WAGNER ROAD, between Liberty Road and Jackson Road, will be CLOSED TO THROUGH TRAFFIC during the concrete paving operations. This is being implemented in an effort to limit traffic congestion, resulting from the transport, unloading and finishing of the concrete pavement. Traffic regulators (flaggers) will be positioned at the Wagner Road/Liberty Road intersection to assist motorists. Motorists using Wagner Road to access Jackson Road or Jackson Plaza should seek an alternate route. ACCESS FOR RESIDENTS AND THE BUSINESSES ALONG WAGNER ROAD WILL BE MAINTAINED.

To maintain the safety of road crews, please continue to reduce speeds and drive cautiously through the work zone! The posted speed limit within the project limits has been reduced to 25 mph. We are continuing to coordinate our work with the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Department to assure the safety of the road crews and motorists.

The Road Commission thanks you in advance for your patience as we continue our improvements on Wagner Road.
