The Washtenaw County Road Commission (WCRC) is pleased to announce an additional 12 road projects that will improve 22 miles of county road. This work is made possible thanks to the unexpected $175 million in state road funding approved by the Michigan Legislature in February. WCRC expects to receive approximately $2 million from this latest road funding legislation.
Platt Road in York Township has been closed since March 1, 2018.
Included in this list is the repair of Platt Road, between Willis Road and Bemis Road, in York Township. This section of road has been closed to traffic since March 1, 2018, due to pavement failure. WCRC will be repairing sections of the road base and then resurfacing the road. Road base repair will begin during the week of April 9 and paving will take place in late April or May, depending on the weather and the availability of hot mix asphalt. This section of Platt Road will remain closed to all traffic until this work can be completed.
The other 11 projects consist of a combination of asphalt resurfacing and chip sealing work. Chip sealing is a preventative maintenance technique that helps to extend the life of existing asphalt road surfaces. This work will be completed during the 2018 construction season.
