Public Meeting Notice: B2B Trail Projects
January 9 @ 12:00 am
This public informational meeting will discuss two Border-to-Border Trail (B2B) projects. The meeting will begin with a presentation followed by an open house discussion format where individuals can discuss the projects with staff.
The first project will begin construction in January 2019. It begins in Dexter Huron Metropark and ends at the intersection of Zeeb Road and Huron River Drive (1.2 miles). The trail is mostly within the Metropark but also includes portions in the railroad and road rights of way. The work includes two new pedestrian bridges over the Huron River, earthwork, vegetation removal, paving of an asphalt trail, boardwalk, and other related improvements. The river may be temporarily closed for safety reasons while placing bridges. Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2019.
The second project is in the engineering and design phase. The trail begins at the intersection of Zeeb Road and Huron River Drive and is proposed to roughly parallel the railroad on the south side of Huron River Drive to Delhi Metropark. The project team has completed preliminary designs, environmental and archeological research and now seeks public feedback on the proposed trail alignment. Construction may occur as soon as 2020.
